About Acupuncture
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine
that originated in China over 3000 years ago. Acupuncture
is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which includes
the practice of Chinese herbal medicine. Acupuncture is a
medical practice, so it is used to treat not only pain but
other systemic health issues.
Why do acupuncture?
Many Americans come to acupuncture when
they feel they have reached the limits of Western medicine.
This often occurs when they are having multiple health problems,
when they want to eliminate or reduce medication use, or when
they want to treat the root cause of their health problems
instead of just the symptoms.
What is Qi?
Qi roughly translates as “energy”,
but is more than simple energy. Qi is our life force, that
spark that makes us who we are.
What are the channels?
The channels are an interconnected series
of pathways throughout the body along which Qi travels.
